Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus
1. Side Key customization
The button on the left is called a Side Key. Yep, it’s neither called Power Button nor Bixby Button. However, it packs the function of both the keys and more. The double-press and long-press events are customizable as per your preference. So whether you want to launch the camera or an app of your choice, or to wake up Bixby, it can all be done. All you have to do is navigate to Settings > Advanced settings > Side Key, and pick your choices. In my case, I am using Open App for Double press option and Power off for Press and hold.
2. Customize the Edge Panels
The Galaxy Note 10’s Infinity O display gives you an endless screen experience. And the best way to take advantage of this screen is via the Edge Panels. These panels make your favorite apps available to you in an instant. All you need to do is swipe from the left of the screen. Yep, no more hassle of opening the App drawer and fishing for your favorite app. And the best part is that these panels can be rearranged and customized as per your choice. To do so, open the Edge Panel and tap on the little cog-shaped icon at the lower-left corner. Select the panels you want and deselect the rest. At the same time, if you want to add apps to the App edge, tap on Edit and add your frequently used apps to it. To reorder the panels as per your preference, tap on the three-dot icon at the top and select Reorder.
3. Record Screens like a Pro
Another cool new feature is the Screen Recorder. It lets you capture the happenings on your screen, and also records the S Pen activities. All you have to do is bring down the Quick Settings menu, select Screen Recorder from the list and your recordings will be captured after 3 seconds. If you want to write with your S Pen, tap on the Pen icon from the compact transparent control at the top. After you finish recording, double-tap on the screen to bring back the controls and stop the recording. However, the story doesn’t end there. You can select the video resolution and the audio source. To access these settings, open the Quick Settings menu and long-tap on the Screen Recorder icon.
4. Do Away with the Screenshot Toolbar
Do you find the screenshot toolbar at the bottom irritating? It comes in handy when you have to take a scrolling screenshot. However, it can get quite annoying since you have to wait for the panel to disappear before you can capture the next one. Thankfully, with the Note 10, you can now disable the screenshot toolbar (and re-enable it whenever you want). For that, go to Advanced Settings > Screenshots and screen recorder, and toggle the switch off for the Screenshot toolbar.
