So, today I’d like to display some of the best Media apps that didn’t make it to the Play Store or were banned.
1. TubeMate
Tubemate is one of the most known download application that was removed from play store as it didn’t abide by the copyright laws of YouTube. But, the application is still available and is still popular like before. For those that don’t know about Tubemate, it’s an Android app that lets you download videos from different streaming websites like YouTube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Facebook and many more. You can download the videos in various video formats and also convert them to audio.
2. NewPipe
NewPipe is an open source Android app available on F-droid (F-droid is a library of open source Android apps). It’s basically a front-end of YouTube. Meaning, you can access YouTube and its content without an account with other features attached to it. You can view videos by searching them. You don’t get feeds or trending tab. Features include downloading video and audio in various formats and playing the audio of the video in background (best used for listening to music videos.) You also get settings to play videos in an external video player or audio player, set a default video resolution and audio format. There’s support for Tor browser too. Do you live outside the US and desperately want to try YouTube’s New Music Service? Here’s a quick guide on how to do so.
3. SnapTube
Another Android app popular with Tubemate is SnapTube. SnapTube has better design and easier navigation than Tubemate. The best part about using SnapTube is that it’s lightweight and makes less use of resources. Some interesting features include videos categorized in various parts and the ability to bookmark videos. There’s also a fast download mode and ability to download multiple videos at a time.
4. Videoder
Now, if you’re looking for a simplistic YouTube only downloader app, then you should use Videoder. Videoder lets you download multiple YouTube videos in various media formats. It’s pretty simple to figure out how it works. Search for a video and then select the videos that you wish to download. Now, tap on the download counter button at the bottom and download the videos in the media format of your choice. You also get quick download button for a specific video. Other then that you can choose the app theme and download MP3 metadata for music videos.
5. VideoMix
VideoMix is the application that will let you stream movies and TV shows for free. It grabs links from popular movie streaming websites like Sockshare, Putlocker, Moveshare, etc. You can stream it to a video player or you can download the movie on your smartphone. Sometimes, if it doesn’t connect to the server it might give you an error. Otherwise, it works fine. You also get a torrent link and description of the movies and shows right from their IMDB page.
Some Love for Such Apps
Though these apps are not available on Play Store, but, still they’re popular. There are many apps that are deserving to become popular but can’t make it due to less exposure. One of the reason is that people sometimes don’t trust such apps. Well, the apps displayed here are not malicious and don’t contain viruses. Also, don’t download apps from untrusted sources.
