While groups may be a fun medium to discuss, at times, they may turn out to be spammy or even irrelevant. If you’re stuck in a group that is getting on your nerves, fret not. Exit from Facebook groups is as voluntary as membership in the groups. This explainer will tell you how to leave a Facebook group so that you’re no longer involved in unwanted discussions.

What Happens When You Leave a Facebook Group

Before delving into the moot point of how you leave a Facebook group, it is essential to discuss the implications of leaving a Facebook group. Here are some consequences of exiting a Facebook group.

The group will be removed from your list of Facebook groups. You would be removed from the member list of any group you exit.  You won’t be able to view posts of such groups on your feed. You won’t be notified of any activity in such a group. You won’t be notified of any engagement on your old post in that group. Your exit wouldn’t be notified to other members of the group.

Unlike exiting a WhatsApp group, other members including the admins will not know when you quit a Facebook group. However, checking the members’ list will indicate that you have left the group.
