I used to use Gtalk and Facebook Messenger for instant messaging on my Android but there were some limitations I came across on them:
In the Gtalk client for Android one cannot sign-in using multiple Google accounts. If I am chatting with two different friends on Facebook and Gmail, switching between the apps, every few seconds becomes very irritating. There is no auto responder feature in these official apps which would automatically push a reply whenever someone is trying to contact me while I’m away.
Finally I found a solution to all the above problems in eBuddy. eBuddy has an amazing application for Android that lets you to connect to multiple chatting services and you can simultaneously chat with friends on different networks.
Using eBuddy on Android
After you install the application sign out of all the individual messenger apps (like Gtalk and Facebook) you are logged in to or at least disable the notifications. It will take make sure that you don’t receive multiple notifications for the same message. Having done that, launch the application. When you launch the app for the first time you will be asked to log in using one of your favorite networks from the list of supported ones. Select and authenticate your account to start using eBuddy. After eBuddy signs you in, it will load the list of all the contacts who are your friends on that particular network along with their online availability information. You can hide all the contacts who are currently offline from the app settings to ease up the friend lookup task. To add additional accounts to eBuddy, navigate to the Accounts tab and press the Add account button. eBuddy currently supports MSN, Facebook, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, GTalk, MySpace & Hyves. For few you may directly provide your login credentials while for services like Facebook, you will have to authenticate the application access from your profile.
Features
The best thing about eBuddy is that you can add multiple accounts for the same service. For example, I have to maintain two Google accounts, one official and other for family and friends. Using eBuddy I can add both of ‘em and chat with all the friends simultaneously. That’s not all, the other interesting and innovate feature that took my heart away was the auto responder. If at all I am not using my phone for say 10 to 15 minutes, eBuddy will automatically go in away state. If any of my friends try to contact me while I am away, the app automatically shoots a pre-configured message as an acknowledgement. If you are chatting with multiple friends at a time, just swipe the screen to right or to left to switch between the chat windows. The app also pushes notification when someone is trying to contact you. Enable the option of Login Automatically to automatically enable the app on device startup. You can also set up your universal status message and display pic using eBuddy.
Conclusion
So go ahead and try out the application if you love to stay connected with your family and friends while on the move. Do let us know how you like it once you start using it.
